We have some incredible news to share: in our second campaign year with United Way Centraide - Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches, Ver-Mac has received the Best New Campaign Prize for 2020, having contributed $44 075 during the coronavirus pandemic. A huge thank you and congratulations on a job well done to everyone who participated!
United Way Centraide is a federated network of non-profit organizations whose goal is to improve life for local communities. Collectively, United Way Centraide serves over 5,000 communities across Canada, including 216 in the Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions alone. Donations to United Way Centraide provide basic needs to Canadians who struggle to find food and shelter. They offer academic and personal enrichment for children and promote community engagement through a wide variety of initiatives.
In 2020, it was only the second time Ver-Mac participated in a United Way Centraide campaign. Uniting under the theme of CARING—one of our 5 core company values—Ver-Mac contributed $44,075 of this in a campaign that ran from November 2 to the 30th.
Despite the confinement imposed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ver-Mac team leveraged creative person-to-person networking to nearly double our $20,000 campaign from the previous year, increasing our contribution by an unbelievable 55%.
We are also thrilled to announce that our participation rate jumped from 17% in 2019 to nearly half (43%) in 2020. Some Ver-Mac employees got so involved that they asked to participate in the United Way Centraide campaign team themselves.
Given the difficulties everyone faced last year, we are extremely proud to have a team who come together when times are hard to help those who need it most in our communities throughout the Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches regions.
During the pandemic, United Way Centraide - Québec and Chaudière-Appalaches was able to collect a record-breaking $15.9 million.
